Supporting Gamblers
As a Gamble Host, you are encouraged to help gamblers by putting them in contact with a support service. Don't worry, you are not expect to provide what a trained counsellor would do. Giving someone a referral can make a huge difference to their life.
There are many ways to access support for gamblers that you are concerned about:
- Call the national Gambling Helpline on 0800 654 644. This is free and available 24/7.
- Find a face-to-face counselling service near you. These sessions are always free and confidential.
It is good to get to know your local face-to-face counselling service. That way you know who to call if you need to answer questions, and you will feel more confident about referring people who need help.
